Back in the Kittchen!

This is how I imagine my return to the blogosphere. It's a lot more exciting in my head, and I spent a good five minutes trying to figure out how to make the title of this post mimic a Kramer entrance. The best solution I could come up with WASTOTYPELIKETHIS so that it seemed rushed and dramatic. But that was stupid.

Anywho, what's been going on in your lives? Wow, neato. I only asked so I could tell you about my life.

Things got a little dark for me here in the land that God forgot Eastern North Carolina since I last posted. In between applying to the things I'd like to do next year (which are not locked up yet, hence the vaguery (a much better word than vagueness)), I also applied to about a hundred jobs.

The best one? An admin position at our realtor's office that would have allowed me to do marketing work and acquaint myself with the world of real estate sales. Yes, that is literally the best job I was able to find between October and today. The worst one? The morning shift at a 50s-themed restaurant (who am I, Monica Geller?) whose only application question was "Do you feel comfortable wearing ample, 50s-appropriate makeup to work?"

I got turned down for/heard nothing back from Each. And. Every. One. This was, well, terrible for me, because my resume is pretty baller and I'm in debt up to my eyeballs for a liberal arts education that is worth nothing in this depressed swamp. It got to the point where I wondered if I could sell tattoo real estate on my body in order to make money, and I rambled to anyone who would listen about being over- and under-qualified for every job in the county.

But! As of today, I've finally managed to find a real job that doesn't involve serving shrimp 'n grits in heavy lipstick and blue eyeshadow, so I'm feeling a little bit better about myself.

And it means I can finally start blogging again! I know that will be quite a comfort to you, my four dear readers. I'll start back up with the food writing tomorrow, but I just wanted to check in and say hey. You look pretty.

  1. Yeah! Your blog was on my home page, and I couldn't bring myself to delete it! By the way, we're hiring. Lots. Send me your resume, quick, we've been interviewing already. You could move from the place that God forgot to the place that God lives!

  2. Kitt,

I read your blog all the time and love that it shows up on my facebook. I love cooking and think we should definitely trade recipes, perhaps create a cook book! Never know when our Taft writing skills could come in handy!
